Sugar Cookies!

I wish I could find a decent, basic sugar cookie recipe. I'd prefer that it didn't include shortening, baking powder, or cream of tarter. Also, I'd like for it to not require 50% of the ingrediants to be butter (I'd prefer not to have a heart attack after eating one cookie, k-thnx!). Anywho, I want to make M&M sugar cookies like they used to sell at the mall. They were big, chewy, and had 3 M&Ms spaced out toformed a triagle pattern. Oh gah, I need one of those bad boys right now!
