It's the old Werthan factory that's in Driving Miss Daisy!

Looks like they've turned into lofts several years ago. Not sure I would want to live in that area of town but the pictures look pretty nifty. Then again it's been over a decade since I've been to that area of town...so much has changed in the Nashville area in the past 8 years alone. What was safe 8 years ago is now a nightmare and what was a nightmare back then is now safe.

I grew up with East Nashville being known for being one of the worst areas in town. Like 10x's worse than Antioch. Now all of these newer folks (those who seemed to have moved here 2002 or later) swear up and down that it's the safest place in town and that everywhere else is bad.
Back prior to 2000, my neighborhood was considered a nice, safe area. Definitely not upper class but it was certainly a respectable area. The high school I went to even had a reputation for being "the tea sippers" back in the day (and after decades that faded out around my junior year). Now we have all kinds of trash in the neighborhood. We're a old neighborhood...most of the people on the street have lived here for decades. My family totes has everyone else beat in time (psh, we've owned this land since the mid 1700's!) but a lot of families have been here since the 1950's. But there are a lot of illegal immigrants (yes, they are, it's a common fact around here) in the neighborhood, which the sad thing is that they start out by targeting each other for crime because they know that they're afraid of getting the police involved. Then from there the crime sprees escalate. Though we have an amazing police force around here! Seriously! There's always a lot of police cars going through here but it's great because they know what's going on, know when something's not right, and they're always close by.
