It's the old Werthan factory that's in Driving Miss Daisy!
Looks like they've turned into lofts several years ago. Not sure I would want to live in that area of town but the pictures look pretty nifty. Then again it's been over a decade since I've been to that area of town...so much has changed in the Nashville area in the past 8 years alone. What was safe 8 years ago is now a nightmare and what was a nightmare back then is now safe.
I grew up with East Nashville being known for being one of the worst areas in town. Like 10x's worse than Antioch. Now all of these newer folks (those who seemed to have moved here 2002 or later) swear up and down that it's the safest place in town and that everywhere else is bad.
Back prior to 2000, my neighborhood was considered a nice, safe area. Definitely not upper class but it was certainly a respectable area. The high school I went to even had a reputation for being "the tea sippers" back in the day (and after decades that faded out around my junior year). Now we have all kinds of trash in the neighborhood. We're a old neighborhood...most of the people on the street have lived here for decades. My family totes has everyone else beat in time (psh, we've owned this land since the mid 1700's!) but a lot of families have been here since the 1950's. But there are a lot of illegal immigrants (yes, they are, it's a common fact around here) in the neighborhood, which the sad thing is that they start out by targeting each other for crime because they know that they're afraid of getting the police involved. Then from there the crime sprees escalate. Though we have an amazing police force around here! Seriously! There's always a lot of police cars going through here but it's great because they know what's going on, know when something's not right, and they're always close by.

Moonlight Path from Bath & Body Works smells soooooo good!!! I want to slather some of the lotion on my feet right now but I've been barefoot all day and don't feel like washing 'em at the moment.
I've got a heck-of-a-lot of laundry to do... Bummer. Guess I'll get on with that this weekend.
I for really-real want to see the Hannah Montana movie right now!!! Omg, I want to watch it through one time to get the whole vibe and then watch it again and keep count of all of the places I recognize just for the heck of it. Which reminds me, I soooo want to see Driving Miss Daisy (it's been a looooong time since seeing it, and one of the few that I've actually seen in a theater...down in Fayetteville of all places! Good times...yep...good times.). There's a building that's shown in the movie that's really located here in town. I remember seeing it in the movie and then in real life everytime we'd go by there, but I can't remember where the building is exactly.
That also reminds me that while watching the fourth episode in the first season of Perfect Strangers, I saw a Seville!!! I'm always keep an eye out for my car when I watch anything that was filmed around the 80's. I remember the first time I saw Bedazzled (which is not an 80's movie...omg, but I loooooove Brendan Fraser!!!), Brendan's charcater falls out of the sky and lands on the car. The car is shown for almost a split second but I knew it was a Seville like my! Though they set it up so that the car would have a huge dent in the hood, which upset me (omg, here I go again...), but since Harold Ramis, the director, also played one of my major fictional loves a.k.a. Egon Spengler, I couldn't be too upset for long.
And then THAT also reminds me that the new Harry Potter movie comes out this summer. That means Snape (my MAJOR fictional love...and who I was RIGHT about all along!!!!) a.k.a. Rickman (love love looooove!!!!). Oh happiness!!!

Tonight I'm starting my detox tea habit. I have several boxes of Yogi Peach Detox tea...hopefully I can drink at least one cup a night. I think my organs will appreciate it. Yep. Which reminds me, I want to grow a tea garden.
Someone posted a website with free drum lessons. I want to get serious about learning drums. I guess I'll start studying the site thoroughly. I'm also tired of not getting any farther on the guitar. I've been stuck at the same place where I was 7 years ago. I mean, I haven't learned to really play anything new since then. I've picked up on small things since but I'm still not happy with what I can do.
I want to become a distance healer. That would be freakin awesome! "Baby I can heal the pain."

I think one of my biggest peeves has to be the way a lot of people react to folks who are (legally) blind/have visual impairments. Over at ONTD people have a ball with Scott's (American Idol) vision. It's really sickening. I'm just really tired of the stupidity that's out there.
My dad's legally blind. He has Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), he doesn't have any peripheral vision (it's like he has "tunnel" vision). He can't see in the dark and bright lights wash everything out. Recently his vision has become even more fuzzy and foggy than before. He uses a white cane when he's out in public, mostly just a sign for people to move out of the way because he probably won't see them and will walk into them (though he does also depend on it when someone's not there to guide him at the time) because a lot of people remark that he "doesn't look legally blind" since he wears glasses and his eyes look "normal." *head->desk* Stereotypes...
Anyway, when we're out and he's using his cane...instead of moving out of the way, a lot of people have the tendency to go out of their way and into his path and walk right towards him as if they expect him to move out of their way. I...er, it just doesn't make sense!!! I really don't get it! I wish someone out there could explain it to me because...really, why!?!?!
And it's just odd to me o come across people who do not know what a white cane is or what i is used for but for those who may be in this position, here's Wiki's take on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_cane
I also want to point out (since it doesn't seem like something that would cross the mind at the time), do not pet or try to interact with a guide dog while it is "working" and helping it's person. It may create confusion for the dog and in turn could create problems.

Earlier today I came across the Model White Cane Law. Going back to the thing about people moving into my dad's path after they see him with his cane, I think I'm going to print out this Law and hand it to them with #4 highlighted. lol, maybe then they'll get the hint!
"4: Any person or persons, firm or corporation, or the agent of any person or persons, firm or corporation who denies or interferes with admittance to or enjoyment of the public facilities enumerated in section 2 or otherwise interferes with the rights of a totally or partially blind or otherwise disabled person under section 2 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor."

Yesterday's (well, actually Thursday since it's already Saturday now) bad weather really got me to thinking lastnight more so than normal. A tornado touchdowned about 5 miles north east of my house. When the news first showed that there was a funnel cloud in the area, it looked like it was right over my street (actually it looked like it was being pinpoint to the interstate which is <1/4 mile from my driveway). We've always been super fortunate, except for in the 60's (waaay before my time) a tornado hit and destroyed the barn in our field (and fortunately didn't hit my family's house). I remember most of the structure was still standing when I was a little kid (up until 1990) and only being able to step foot inside just a few feet because everything had collapsed, and then they finally tore it down. I just remember it gave me the chills back then imagining that something so destructive could hit so close to home (literally).
Anyway, the news kept showing the area where the tornao hit and all of the damage. Just looking at the cars alone really bothered me. Before the tornado I was sooo concerned about hail because I already have hail damage to the hood of my Seville, and I'm so terrified of my it happening to my Deville. Ugh, I'm terrified of anything happening to my Cadillacs. I'm still not over the people backing into my Seville during classes several years ago. But there were all these cars that were pretty much destroyed from all the damage that the tornado and winds caused. Everyone was saying how thankful they were that no one was hurt (which is indeed a blessing) and that cars can be replaced. Yes, cars can be replaced, but I can't imagine having to replace my car if something happened. I would seriously cry if the wall of a building or a tree landed on my car and crushed it. I would freak out even if just the glass was blown out. Omg, I would be out there carefully taping plastic in place so that nothing could get in but also so that the adhesive from the tape wouldn't damage the paint or the interior.
So lastnight I realized how warped my thinking is because I would probably put myself in a life threatening position just to save one of my cars. Gosh, when I thought my Seville's engine was on fire, like a fool I just sat in the car and called home crying about what was going on, and then got out after popping the hood to check it out (I was terrified that I wouldn't like what I was about to see).
Tonight at the Tin Pan South event, Hanson sang a new song. There's a lyric that pretty much says "you don't need a Cadillac because I'll be waiting for you with my bare back (?) to carry you away" (it's supposed to be about friendship, people, friendship!!!). rofl, I was actually kind of sad that it was being suggested that I don't need a Cadillac! Seriously, can a person really provide the smooth ride and luxury of a Cadillac while they carry you to your destination? Um, I think not!!! Omg, see!?!? My mind instantly goes to protecting my Cadillacs' rights instead of thinking about the comfy, warm, and happy feeling that the song is supposed to be giving me!
And another thing, I feel absolutely awful because my car is covered in bird poop! I think the bad weather scared the poop out of the birds and it all landed on my car. But I didn't realize it until I was leaving for the show and didn't want to set myself back from getting there so that I could get the car parked safely (yes, I chose the overall safety of my car over the safety of its paint!). So there it was in the parking lot, right where everyone could see, covered in birdie nastiness! Poor baby. I'm going to have to give it a good hosedown tomorrow. Hopefully it isn't hurting the paint! :/
Ugh, I think I need to go to Cadillac rehab...
